The current EIS and Road
Access approval process is being handled by the United States Forest
Service in accordance with the provisions of the NEPA and the Final
EIS decision is expected in the near future.
The Village utilized the summer months of 2005 to complete field
surveys to a one foot contours, conduct all required geotechnical
core drilling and to install initial wetlands monitoring wells.
In December 2005, the US Corps of Engineers approved the "certified"
map of all wetlands areas on the 287.5 acre Village tract and the
US Fish & Wildlife Service issued a Final Biological Opinion
that the Village will not threaten the Canada Lynx, a listed endangered
species, recently re-introduced to the area.
